"Born Yesterday" at Chicago Outdoor Film Festival

The Academy Awarding winning film Born Yesterday will be shown Tuesday August 4 at 8:37 p.m. at Butler Field in Grant Park.

Judy Holliday won the Academy Award for Best Actress of 1950, beating out odds-on favorites Bette Davis (All About Eve) and Gloria Swanson (Sunset Boulevard). Holliday portrayed Billie Dawn, the dumb-blond mistress of gangster/tycoon Harry Brock (Broderick Crawford), reprising the role she created on Broadway. Things don't go quite according to plan when Brock hires tutor Paul Verrall (William Holden) to teach Billie how to "talk good."

Directed by the legendary George Cukor (My Fair Lady), Born Yesterday is one of the best comedies of the 1950s. Click Chicago Outdoor Film for more information.
