Battle of Fort Dearborn Park naming and dedication

Park to be dedicated this Saturday

The small park at 18th and S. Calumet Ave. will be named in a ceremony this Saturday at 10 a.m.

Two-hundred years in the making

According to the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance (PDNA) announcement, this event "...is almost 200 years in the making." In attendance will be representatives from the Native American community and battle descendants. Park District representatives and 2nd Ward Alderman Robert W. Fioretti will dedicate and name the park: Battle of Fort Dearborn Park. A historic marker commemorating the site will be installed in the park.

This event is free and open to the community. The ceremony will last approximately one hour. For more information, visit the PDNA web site.
