Chicago shuts down tomorrow

Reduced city services on Monday

Many city services will be unavailable Monday August 17. If you need to check out a library book, visit a city clinic, or get your registration renewed, you're out of luck. The city is basically shutting down nonessential services to save money. Tomorrow is part of the mayor's plan to establish reduced service days. Written into the 2009 budget, the three planned reduced service days are expected to save the city $8.3 million.
