New apartment building at 1411 S. Michigan

Mayor's nephew to build apartments

Is this the site of a new 220-unit apartment building? According to today's Chicago Sun Times it is. The investment company which Mayor Daley's nephew, Robert Vanecko, owns with partners Allison S. Davis and Davis's son Jared Davis, plans to knock down the South Loop headquarters of the National Association of Letter Carriers at the 1411 S. Michigan location.

Do we need more residential space?

One has to wonder where all these tenants are coming from when current development in the South Loop has gone, how shall we say, south. With all the new condominiums going rental, The Roosevelt Collection being the latest to do so, you'd think there are plenty of residential spaces here already.
