Manny's Deli: Coming to a Supermarket Near You!

Chicago Politicians' Favorite Deli
The spot all Chicago politicians are “required” to visit during campaign and election seasons, is expanding their business. If all goes according to plan, you’ll be able to get some of Manny’s deli favorites at your neighborhood supermarket. According to Crain’s Chicago,  Manny’s deli items are already available at some Costco stores. Manny’s Cafeteria and Delicatessen has been a Chicago institution since 1942. It’s been at its 1141 S. Jefferson St. location since 1964.

Do you think supermarket versions of Manny’s corned beef and potato pancakes will compete with the restaurant experience?  For a lot of us, Manny’s is kind of a relic: a neighborhood deli that actually serves up real delicatessen specialties. Back in the day there were many such places. Not so any more.

Is Manny’s a favorite of yours? If it is, please tell us why. We’d love to hear from you.

  2. I would love for Manny's to sell their soups in the grocery store too. I stock up on the frozen soup they have near the cashier when ever I come through. I think they have the best matzo ball soup in the South Loop and beyond :)
