Southern Food Coming to 1826 South Canal Street?

According to EverBlock, a permit has been issued to "erect a one-story restaurant building."

The rumor is that is will be a restaurant featuring southern food with supper club in it's name. We'll keep you posted as this develops.

Hush puppies: a distinctly southern delicacy.
Southern food sounds very comforting as we type this blog post. What kind of a restaurant would you like to see open at 1826 S. Canal St.?

  2. Seems like a bit of a risky spot to open a new restaurant. What exactly is a supper club in this day and age?

  3. That's a good question. Here's the Webster's definition: nightclub(1925). Not a lengthy definition, but that's what it says. Granted it was first used in 1925 during prohibition, so who knows what it means today.

  5. Hush puppies? Yum! (Saith a born Southerner who has lived in Chicago for almost 40 years.)
