Grand Opening Weekend in the South Loop

Coffee creations like this can be found at Overflow Coffee Bar.

Some Very Grand Openings
This was a busy weekend for grand openings in the South Loop. Three new businesses officially opened this weekend, including the new Firestone Complete Auto Care facility at 1558 S. Wabash, Overflow Coffee Bar, 1550 S. State St., and Flavor 180, 1511 S. State St.

Flavor -180-ful Offerings
It was exciting to see new businesses opening up in the South Loop. I had the opportunity to sample some of the coffee at Overflow and at Flavor 180, whose tag line is "Changing the Face of Fast Food," I sampled an assortment of dishes, including turkey Bolognese with pasta, Asian Cajun turkey burger on a pretzel roll, mango jerk wings, and tilapia fish tacos. If the rest of their food is even half as good as what I sampled, the South Loop should be flocking to this unique eatery.

Firestone is Back
At Firestone, they had a grand ribbon cutting ceremony, complete with the UIC marching band, that was attended by many residents and officials from the South Loop, including 3rd Ward Alderman, Pat Dowell and Greater South Loop Association board member, Jeanette Johnson, both on hand to welcome Firestone back to the neighborhood.

Now open at 1511 S. State St.
