South Loop Roundup

Alert
The recent mugging on S. Indiana Ave. on Saturday afternoon has given some of us pause. We need to remember Chicago is a big city and that we should always be alert. The South Loop is a safe neighborhood, but we’re not immune to crime. Muggers have been targeting people walking alone, carrying shoulder bags, backpacks, and brief cases. Several of those attacked were preoccupied with cell phones, iPods, and so on. The take-away from these recent incidents is to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Don’t assume that daylight + tree-lined street = safety. If you can, it’s always best to walk, run with a buddy.

Free Concert
Don’t forget the free band concert tonight at Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens, 1827 S. Indiana Ave. performed by VanderCook College of Music's Graduate Band. Family Drum Circle will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

Storm
We have had some pretty crazy weather this spring/summer and yesterday was no exception. The morning storm came in fast and furious, doing some damage in the city and suburbs. The awning at Zapatista’s on Wabash took a big hit.

  1. And as usual, the Indiana incident has inspired a new round of race-baiting over at Sloopin. What the Capplebigot!
