New Craft Beers To Launch at Weather Mark Tavern

Two new craft beers, developed collaboratively between South Loop Brewing Company and Lake Effect Brewing Company, will be launched July 24, 2013 at Weather Mark Tavern 1503 S. Michigan Ave. at 6 p.m.

Weather Mark Tavern is the perfect venue to launch “Sailor’s Warning” and “Sailor’s Delight” since it’s the only nautically themed bar in Chicago. The names of the new brews are taken from the ancient rhyme “Red skies in the morning, sailor’s warning, Red skies at night, sailor’s delight.” Mariners used this rule of thumb for predicting the weather dating back over 2000 years. South Loop Brewing Company and Lake Effect Brewing Company used it as the inspiration to this split-mash double beer collaboration.

  • Sailor’s Warning—is a 8.3% ABV imperial ruby red ale. It’s full-bodied and boozy (not unlike sailors)
  • Sailor’s Delight—is a refreshing 5.1% ABV sessionable red ale; it is lighter in both color and body than Sailor’s Warning.
