Banana Republic, Container Store and other retailers coming to Roosevelt Collection

Three new retailers coming to Roosevelt Collection, 150 W. Roosevelt Rd, in the South Loop increases the development’s occupancy to 79 percent, according to a post in Crain’s. Roosevelt Collection’s only tenant was ShowPlace ICON movie theater before McCaffrey Interests, Inc. took over three years ago.

The new tenants coming to Roosevelt Collection are Banana Republic, Lululemon Athletica, and the largest, Container Store, which will be leasing 26,000 square feet, again according to a report in Crain’s. Plans for an apartment tower in the northwest corner of the property, part of the original plans, but then dropped during the real estate bust, are being considered once again. The tower would include 355 units.

We remember when first proposed Roosevelt Collection and the surrounding area shopping was promoted as “North Avenue” in the South Loop.

What do you think? Are you excited to have these new retailers in the neighborhood?

  1. Glad to have this Roosevelt Collection where it is! Saves me a good 30 minutes in traffic driving up North to the same stores. The only downside is that Roosevelt Road is already a major traffic jam... before all these new shops have even opened. I can only imagine the traffic will get worse.

    1. Yes, we are in danger of becoming another North Avenue traffic nightmare. But I can still take the bus and walk to the movies!
