It's Bird Migratory Season

Dead or Alive?
Walking around the South Loop you may have noticed dead birds on our sidewalks. Many of these birds were heading south for the winter when they encountered one of the many glass high-rises in the neighborhood. According to the Bird Conservation Network, though some of the birds we might encounter appear to be dead, they may in fact not be.

This bird was discovered in Museum Park on Friday.
Often, the birds are just stunned or are knocked out after colliding with a building. Rather than pick up or try to rescue these bird yourself, the Bird Conservation Network suggests you call the Chicago Bird Collision Monitors at 773-988-1867. For more information, including volunteer opportunities, visit their Web site.
