Barbershop Opening on State St.

Just a bit south of Flavor 180, a new barbershop called The Hot Comb will be opening soon, according to a recently posted sign. I called the number listed and spoke with owner/operator, Jacinta, who said they plan to open the second week in June. When I walked past yesterday, the man working on the space told me he's working hard to get things ready.

The Hot Comb is coming to S. State St.

It looks like State St. in the South Loop is having a bit of a renaissance. With the addition of Overflow Coffee Bar at 16th and State and Donna's Café just south of Roosevelt Rd., things have become a bit more lively.

What do you think? Do you see positive changes, as far as businesses go, in the South Loop?

  1. yes, I'm excited about all these new places opening up around the neighborhood. Too bad that the the block where I live (14th and state) is so dead. On one side we have the building with and empty retail space next to a Comed station that's not going away anytime soon, and on the other side we have the horrible suburban-style car centric development fronting state St...At least Wabash is looking very nice
