The Hot Comb Opening July 1
The Hot Comb is opening July 1, 2011 at 1529 S. State St. Their hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed on Sundays and Mondays. For more information, call 773-991-0324.

Barbershop Opening on State St.
Just a bit south of Flavor 180, a new barbershop called The Hot Comb will be opening soon, according to a recently posted sign. I called the number listed and spoke with owner/operator, Jacinta, who said they plan to open the second week in June. When I walked past yesterday, the man working on the space told me he's working hard to get things ready.
It looks like State St. in the South Loop is having a bit of a renaissance. With the addition of Overflow Coffee Bar at 16th and State and Donna's Café just south of Roosevelt Rd., things have become a bit more lively.
