The Doctor is in...your closet!
Author and speaker, Jackie Walker, will be joining the South Loop Connection team. Starting this Friday, Walker will contribute a weekly column, "Fashion Friday." Walker's column will feature fashion and style advice, from causal to couture.
Rooms of emotion
Walker is the author of the best-selling book I Don't Have a Thing to Wear: The Psychology of Your Closet. In her book, she explains the five fashion personality types. Once you know your fashion personality, it's easier to buy and plan your wardrobe. For many women, their closets are "rooms of emotion." Walker explains, "To a man, a tie is a tie. When he looks in the mirror, he sees his face. When a woman looks in the mirror, she sees imperfection. In fact, she sees every insecurity she's ever had." Walker continues, "To a woman, each article of clothing in her closet has a story to tell. A skirt, blouse, sweater, and so on has an emotional link to a life experience." And not all of these experiences are positive. For many women, it's time to clean out their closets.
Confidence starts with your closet
With a mixture of humor, psychology, and practical advice, Walker guides women to a better understanding of their inner selves through their fashion choices. By concentrating on what works for each individual woman, "Dr. Walker" helps organize women's lives by organizing their closets. "When a woman's closet is organized and she understands that self-esteem and confidence comes from within, she'll always have the right thing to wear."
In addition to being a best-selling author, Walker is available for seminars and conferences. We are happy to have Jackie Walker as a member of the South Loop Connection team.
