EPA Announces 2011 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grants in Illinois

Richard Geller, Founder of Nassau Concierge and South Loop resident, spoke with Congressman Danny K. Davis today about greater green initiatives.  Both attended the Environmental Protection Agency grant ceremony promoting a greener lakefront at 12th Street Beach today. Geller and Congressmen Davis are both champions for environmental initiatives. Geller’s corporation is directly involved in creating a greener Chicago through environmentally sound building maintenance services.

Around the South Loop

The Rose Blooms!
On October 1, I pictured a rose that was about to bud due to the recent warm weather. Walking by Daniel Webster Park yesterday, I noticed the rose had bloomed.

The last rose of summer?

Gone, But Not Forgotten
The huge Ride-Along TV crew that was camped out by the Adler Planetarium is gone, but there is a reminder that they were here. A small, neat pile of garbage bags near the curb on Solidarity Dr. The most noticeable reminder that a TV crew was here is the sign informing people that they might be recorded on film.

Surf's Up!
It was another beautiful day and 12th St. Beach was beckoning. Parents with children strolled along the shoreline while some other folk were on the beach sunbathing as if it were June and not October.

To the Moon, Alice
The new Orion program was on display outside the Adler Planetarium. There is a self-guided explanation of the escape module, but yesterday (Thursday), you could speak with Nasa engineers on hand. The Nasa engineers were more than willing to explain the various aspects of the program .
