by Molly Heyen

Holiday Mingling Fears
Does the holiday season conjure images of mingling with strangers at parties, having to offer an unprepared toast to a room full of people, and trying to figure out the best way to respectfully introduce your old college buddy to your boss’s boss?

Help Has Arrived
Have no fear! South Loop Toastmasters is here to help! With three meetings between this Monday, November 28 and December 19 we offer ample opportunity for you to make friends, brush up on your already wonderful talents, and learn new speaking and leadership skills.

Start The New Year With Confidence
Come get a jump-start on your New Year’s resolution, conquer your fear of public speaking and develop the proficiency you need to get the promotion you deserve!

Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International is comprised of over 13,000 clubs worldwide, dedicated to helping members improve their speaking and leadership skills. The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

South Loop Toastmasters
South Loop Toastmasters is an emerging club that meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Daystar Center, 1550 S. State Street, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The goal of the club is to bring the Toastmasters program to the South Loop community and help neighbors connect and learn from one another while developing their own speaking and leadership abilities.

Meetings Happening Now
Due to the holidays South Loop Toastmasters is meeting on the first and third Monday of December, giving us the ability to offer three meetings between November 28 and December 19. With membership growing at a steady pace the club anticipates chartering by the end of January. For more information about Toastmasters International please visit their website. Announcing South Loop Shout Out!

This could be you, sort of.
South Loop Shout Out!
Do you have something great you’d like to share with your neighbors in the South Loop? Do you have a problem with dog owners not cleaning up after their pets in front of your building? Is there a new store or restaurant in the South Loop that you like? Have an idea that would make life in the South Loop better? Do you have a club or organization that you’d like to talk about? Thought about writing a blog, but want to test the waters first?

Well, this is your opportunity to let your voice be heard. Here are some of the rules (you knew there would be rules, didn’t you?).

Guidelines for South Loop Shout Out! Writers
Blog posts should be no longer than 500 words. Posts cannot be anonymous; your name will be attached to anything you have published on the South Loop Connection blog.

It's Easy!
Blog posts may be submitted in Microsoft Word or any other word processing program you are familiar with. If you don’t have access to word processing software, you may provide your submission via e-mail. Please, to the best of your ability, proof and spell check your work upon submission. SLC reserves the right to edit for length and clarity.

South Loop Shout Out! will not publish personal attacks on individuals or groups, but will consider opinions and viewpoints on a variety of issues related to life in the South Loop.
