Around the South Loop and Chicago

How's your eyesight? The American Academy of Ophthalmology was at McCormick Place for six days.

Dearborn Park: It's still nice enough to play tennis.

The Roosevelt St. L platform was a fairly pleasant place to be yesterday afternoon.

Plants and vegetables are still growing in the community garden.

Sweet Maple Cafe: Sweet Addiction

My New Addiction
Okay, this is my second post about Sweet Maple Cafe, 1339 W. Taylor St. I'm seriously becoming addicted to their breakfast offerings.

Toast? Are You Serious?
This morning, I had the "That's Italian" scramble. In this scramble are red and green bell peppers, Romano and mozzarella cheese. The dish also comes with home fried potatoes and homemade sweet milk biscuits (you can have toast, but why bother?) I also split a half order of the lemon-raspberry pancakes (I was really hungry).

The sweet milk biscuits are to die for

Did I mention that the staff is among the friendliest on the planet? Well, they are. You owe it to yourself to visit this gem in Little Italy.

Great Eats in Chicago: Sweet Maple Cafe

Everyone is Family Here
When you walk through the door of Sweet Maple Cafe for the first time, you're greeted warmly. Upon subsequent visits, you're greeted like family. This cozy spot at 1339 W. Taylor St. has been serving great breakfasts (lunch and brunch too) since 1999.

Favorite Family Recipes
Proprietor Laurene Hynson, has created a wonderful family-friendly restaurant in the heart of Chicago's Little Italy. Hynson has created her menu using some of her family's favorite recipes, including her mother's French toast. I can recommend just about everything on the breakfast menu, but I have one piece of advice for first-time diners: get the sweet milk biscuits.

If you're looking for a neighborhood restaurant to call your own, Sweet Maple Cafe just might be the place.
