“Storytime with Sousa,” free concert Sunday, August 28 at Chicago Women’s Park & Gardens

Join Chicago Symphonic Winds for Storytime with Sousa, an interactive musical experience combining the art of narrative with music to create a multi-sensory storytelling concert for kids. Using a narrator to read excerpts from a children’s book on the life of John Philip Sousa, the ensemble will complement the storyline with well-known American wind band favorites in the style of a traditional Sousa concert.

Admission for this concert is free.

This program is presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks with the support of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Arts programming in the neighborhoods across the city advances the goals of the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Cultural Plan. Earth Day Family Festival at Sod Room

The Sod Room, 1454 S. Michigan Ave., 2nd Floor, is holding a Earth Day Family Festival on April 21, 2013 form 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Billed as a “morning of live music and movement,” the day will also feature snacks, storytime and eco-goodie bags and crafts sponsored by Plan Toys. The cost is $20 per child, $35 for two, and $50 for three children. Tickets are limited and those interested are encouraged to register in person or online at their Web site.
