Motor Row Brewing, 2337 S. Michigan Ave., is set to open this month and Baderbräu Brewing Company, 2515 S. Wabash Ave., should open this summer. With Motor Row and Baderbräun opening south of Cermak, it might help spur development that has been stalled in that area for years.

Bash on Wabash this weekend: August 23 & 24, 2014
The 11th annual Bash on Wabash presented by the Greater South Loop Association and Criterion Productions will take place this weekend, August 23 and 24, 2014. The goal of the Bash on Wabash is bringing neighbors and businesses alike, from near and far, to a festival that showcases the beauty, creativity, history and culture of the South Loop.
Located in the heart of the neighborhood on Wabash Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Place, this year’s “Bash on Wabash” promises to be an experience to remember.
Benefiting the Greater South Loop Association (GSLA) with a portion of proceeds going to the South Loop Food Pantry. This lively, colorful festival will have something for everyone including a wide variety of musical acts, food and beverages (including beer and wine), arts and crafts, an elaborate children’s area, vendor booths, and so much more.
New features this year include the Chef’s Demo Table. You will see chefs from some of the South Loop’s most popular restaurants—including Flo & Santos, Brasserie LM, Chef Luciano’s, The Scout, Weather Mark Tavern, and more—where you will be able to sample some signature dishes.

New Shops and Restaurants Coming to Roosevelt Collection
Looks like the Roosevelt Collection developers are working hard to create destination shopping in the South Loop. All the elements were there for years: location, the movie theaters, the new landscaping, but now it looks like it is all coming together.
What would you like to see come to the Roosevelt Collection or the South Loop in general? I must say that I am especially excited about Porkchop opening this summer. One of our favorite restaurants outside the South Loop.

Labor Day Weekend In Chicago
Summer’s Last Stand
Summer isn’t over yet, but Labor Day marks its unofficial end. The weekend was exceptional weather-wise and activity-wise. Take a look as some of the sights around the city: Museum Campus, Navy Pier, and Grant Park for the Jazz Festival.

Around the South Loop: Volume 13
Seasons Change
When the seasons change, many of us have certain touchstones that remind us we’re entering the warmer months. For me, the French Open tennis tournament is my unofficial beginning of summer. Around the South Loop, the "unwrapping" of the fountain at Trevi Square on S. Michigan is another. This morning I noticed bubbling water was flowing out of it. A beautiful sight; I always try to walk by Trevi Square during the summer just to gaze at the fountain and the beautiful courtyard.
What signs or touchstones do you have that say summer is upon us?
