When is Donna's Cafe Opening? Soon We Hope.

It All Depends on What "Soon" Means
In the window of 1255E S. State St., is a sign that reads "Donna's Cafe Coming Soon!" Well, that sign has been there since at least June. Doesn't Donna know that it isn't fair to tease us so? Anytime we see or hear an announcement about a new place opening up, we get excited. I mean, how long was A' Cappela Bistro at 1301 S. Michigan "opening soon?"

How soon is "coming soon?"

Pita Corner Coming in August?
WineStyles is gone, but next door to it at 1250 S. Michigan Ave. there is a sign that says Pita Corner is opening in "August." With August practically over, one wonders if they mean August 2010? Again, it's not nice to tease us folks in the South Loop.

If anyone has some inside information on either Donna's Cafe and/or Pita Corner, please send us a message. Inquiring minds want to know.

It’s Open, It’s Really Open: A’Cappella Bistro

A simple breakfast
Yes, it really is open and I can testify to that fact because I ate there this morning. A simple breakfast: scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast. The eggs were moist, the toast and hash browns were just fine. If you judge a restaurant on how they handle “simple” fare, then A’Cappella Bistro passes that test.

Friendly service
I had breakfast with a neighbor and we both enjoyed our server, Atlie. She was polite and thoughtful, making sure we had a good breakfast experience. And maybe most important of all, the coffee was hot!

If you haven’t tried this new South Loop restaurant, give it a try and let us know what you think.

A' Cappella Bistro to finally open?

According to their Web site, A' Cappella Bistro, 1301 S. Michigan,  is set to open!? A sign in front of the bistro says they're offering a Mother's Day brunch, but as of this writing, no opening date has been posted to their Web site.

When (and if) this eatery would open has been up for speculation. The casual observer might think it has been in business;  it's completely outfitted with tables, chairs, and place settings...and has been for years.

From the outside, it looks like a cozy neighborhood restaurant.  According to their Web site, after they "take care of a few minor details," they'll be ready to open and serve up "reasonably priced, delicious home-style cooking." According to their Web site, they'll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Here's hoping!
