Roadway from Chinatown to Downtown being constructed a century after first proposed

According to an article in today’s dnainfo, construction to connect Chinatown and Downtown has finnally begun. According to the article, the “Wells-Wentworth Connector” was originally proposed in Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago. The new roadway will cost $62 million.

The Year of the Tiger 4708

“Gung Hay Fat Choi”
The Chinatown New Year Parade celebrating the Year of the TIGER 4708 was held today. It included typical parade fare:  marching bands, floats, lion teams, and a 100-foot mystical dragon. The weather was cold, but the sun was out, making for a pleasant day of New Year's activities.

Wentworth to Cermak
The parade started around 1 p.m. and proceeded from 24th St. north on Wentworth Ave. and then west on Cermak Rd.

McDonald's Chinatown Summer Fair

Chinatown hosted the 30th annual McDonald's Chinatown Summer Fair on Sunday July 19th. The fair took place on Wentworth from 24th Place to Cermak from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Food Music and More

The neighborhood festival featured live entertainment and music. Food vendors served up cuisine from many Chinatown restaurants. Other vendors featured local gift shops, Chinese arts and crafts exhibits, street vendors with an array of merchandise and a children’s play area.

Live music featured Mia LeBlon, "soul girl with a rock edge" and Shun Kikuta, Rhythm and Blues.
