2nd Ward Clean & Green

Alderman Bob Fioretti (2nd) invites you, your family, and your organization to join him in volunteering for his fall, biannual, 2nd Ward Clean and Green activity this Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning promptly at 10 a.m.

What is a clean and green?
It’s a day set aside to tackle the litter and/or weeds that you have always wanted clean out. Neighbors, active dog owners, scouts, friends, and local businesspeople work together to pick up trash, pull weeds, paint out grafitti, and do various block beautification projects.

It can be as simple as bending over and picking up the litter that others carelessly leave behind or it can involve your hosting a site or coordinating the participation of an organization to which you belong.

Join your neighbors, business leaders, community organizers, and church congregations to help make a big difference in our neighborhoods. As the saying goes, we are all in this together. The ward is our neighborhood so let’s keep it clean!

Sounds of the South Loop
Guitarist Fareed Haque will be performing in concert at Second Presbyterian Church of Chicago, 1936 S. Michigan Ave., Sunday October 3, 2010 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15; seniors and students $8. Tickets available at the door.

City Council Meeting
The next City Council meeting is October 6, 2010, City Hall, 2nd Floor 10 a.m.

GSLA Fall Classic
The Greater South Loop Association is hosting their Fall Classic on October 15, 2010, 7 p.m. at the historic Glessner House Museum. This GSLA event includes food, drink, music, and dancing. Volunteers Needed

Second Ward Clean & Green
This Saturday, April 17 is Clean & Green Day in the South Loop.

If you from the South Loop's Second Ward and are interested in volunteering, there are three meeting locations: South Loop Field House at 1801 S. Indiana Ave.; Second Ward Yard--Streets and Sanitation at 2840 S. Calumet; and Crane High School at 2245 W. Jackson Blvd.

Meeting time for all locations is 9:30 a.m. The Clean & Green Kick Off will start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.
