Illinois Warrior Summit at Soldier Field

The 2011 Illinois Warrior Summit was held at Soldier Field on Monday. The event included precision skydivers, job fair, and free food. The mission of the Illinois Warriors is to support veterans and their families as they transition to civilian life. Included in the summit, the Midwest Valor Games, a competitive event for “injured and wounded veterans.”

The precision skydivers were a big hit. The second diver nailed the target to cheers, clapping, and lots of cameras clicking. Check out the video below.

Packers v. Bears: Hope You Didn't Park on Wabash Ave.

The tow-trucks and flatbeds were out in force this morning and afternoon. On any given Sunday in the South Loop, when the Bears are playing, if you've parked in an area that requires a Soldier Field sticker or parking permit, your car will be towed. No maybes; you will be towed.

Check out the video below; hope your car isn't being towed. Is the guy running by chasing after his car?

Around the South Loop

The Best Fall Ever
For many of us in Chicago, this is the best fall we've experienced in a long, long time. To see flowers still in bloom, with some still vibrant and healthy, this late in October is an unusual sight. But a welcome one, indeed. Below are some recent shots around the South Loop showing off the neighborhood and the city.

Soldier Field Fountain

One of the most beautiful and serene fountains in Chicago is dedicated to the men and women serving (or  served) in the armed services. Designed to blend in with the Soldier Field campus, the fountain is often overlooked. If you're planning a walk around the museum campus, be sure to stop by.

In a city with some pretty amazing fountains, the one at Soldier Field more than holds its own.
